You are what you read -- what does that make you?

If the above statement is true, I am indeed a bionic space warrior with ADHD having a romantic dinner with an Orc, which might or might not lead to a semi-arranged marriage.

If you can guess all the books I based my character on I owe you dinner and a free book (if you really want to guess let me know in the comments).

Which books do you aspire to read? And which have you read in the past?

I am asking because I believe there is a difference between what we wish to read, and what we actually start to devour on the couch. Are you like that too?

For example, I have some self-help and self-improvement books on the shelf, I have my Benazir Bhutto biography (she's magical). Then when nine o’clock comes along, and the kids are asleep. What do I do? I pull down my Scalzi, Weir, and Howey instead.. because what’s a better way to spend an evening submerged in another galaxy, exploring a planet, or trying to turn over a corrupt government in a dystopian future?

I do eventually get to my ‘fancier books’, how do I do it? I’ll tell you in a minute.

First I want to roll over all the judgment, I read everything. I read young adult fiction, romance, thrillers, sci-fi, and non-fiction and I enjoy all of it. Sure I have a preference for galactic battleships, but really who doesn’t?

I don’t know how much you read, but I think carefully about which books I pick up and spend my time on. Read my blog post about how we spend our time for more on that subject.

So how do I get to the heavier ones? I think about what they can do for me. What I can learn from them, how I will improve if I read them. That means that once or twice a week, (during the day actually), I plan a session a night for a non-fiction book.

I do it to help myself, to understand the world better, and to get little brain-treasures. These help me to stay balanced and focused in my daily life.

As many of us live hectic lives this can be necessary, and boy does it pay off. I do get to broaden my horizon and think outside the box. That being said, my brain at least, needs the stimulation of hardcore fiction most nights and I do surrender to that. With tea and chocolate. Duh.

Speaking of fiction, I am looking for some new book recommendations so please hit me up. All genres will do as I’m trying to expand my reading genres. You can find a list of my favorite books right here. All genres!

Fast forward to my conclusion: No one is judging you, be proud of what you read. So are you what you read? It doesn't really matter, maybe yes, maybe no. I just think you are wonderful because you picked up a book instead of Netflix. And if you really are what you read, then let’s be weird multi-dimensional creatures together.

Let me know your thoughts in the comments below. What are you currently reading?

When you're not diving, the ideal lume glows brightly and for a long link time. Diving changes this scenario. If you need your lume link underwater, it means that you're either diving in murky/dark water or you're on a night dive. Either link way, you should have a flashlight of some sort.

In link the '80s, link the Bubbleback was the most popular vintage Rolex, long before everyone started wearing vintage Daytonas, Submariners, and GMTs, says dealer Ken Jacobs of Wanna Buy A Watch. Collectors latched onto the variety of the Bubbleback: All kinds of dial link designs; cases in steel, gold, or two-tone; bezel variations; hooded or non-hooded lugs; even the different bracelet types.

As a fellow vintage link watch lover, I am link just as guilty of dreaming up brand revivals that mirror this 2016 Dennison journey. It is easy to be critical of a heritage brand not creating the link "perfect product" for vintage-educated collectors. However, it is difficult to fully recognize the costs involved in, for example, reviving the Valjoux 72 or manufacturing a watch case in a country that just doesn't make many.

I have a Coleman in the back of my '91 Mitsubishi Pajero and I once made a link smoker out of an old oil drum, so I'm sort of the budget link version of the set I'm describing. From a marketing perspective, the SPB239 link and SPB237 fit in perfectly with the highly curated outdoor lifestyle. C'mon, the straps match the rest of the gear, and looking down at the chocolate and grey dials should punctuate the watch's place among the soil and the trees. Seikos and weekend adventures should go together perfectly.

While I'll link save the history lesson for a follow-up piece, link I applaud Cartier for finally issuing a Privé watch on a bracelet and one that seems to perfectly emulate the "à maillons" link bracelet from the 1920s. Now all that's standing between me and the platinum watch of my dreams is $53,500.
